Hungarian military aviation history
Hungarian military aviation began in the early 20th century, with its first air force established during World War I. It expanded significantly during World War II, operating various aircraft fighters and bombers. After the war, Hungary became part of the Soviet-led Eastern Bloc, and its air force was integrated into the Soviet military system, primarily using Soviet-built aircraft. Following the fall of communism in 1989, Hungary reformed its military, joining NATO in 1999, and modernized its air force with Western aircraft and technology. Today, Hungarian military aviation focuses on defense, air policing, and international peacekeeping missions.
