Hungarian Fidesz party
The Hungarian Fidesz party, officially known as Fidesz – Hungarian Civic Alliance, is a right-wing political party in Hungary. Founded in 1988, it began as a liberal youth organization but has shifted towards nationalism and conservatism over time. Under the leadership of Viktor Orbán, who became Prime Minister in 2010, Fidesz has focused on issues like national sovereignty, immigration control, and economic nationalism. The party has been criticized for its authoritarian tendencies, including weakening democratic institutions and media freedom. Fidesz has maintained significant electoral support, reflecting a substantial backing from Hungarian voters.
