Humphry Repton
Humphry Repton (1752–1818) was an influential British landscape designer, often considered the last of the great landscape gardeners of the 18th century. He specialized in transforming estates and gardens into picturesque, naturalistic environments by carefully planning the layout, planting trees, and creating scenic views. Repton was innovative in presenting his ideas through "before and after" sketches, known as Red Books, which helped clients visualize his designs. His work balanced aesthetics with functionality, emphasizing harmony with the natural landscape. Repton's contributions significantly shaped English landscape gardening and influenced later landscape design practices.
