Humeral Head
The humeral head is the rounded top part of the upper arm bone (humerus) that fits into the shoulder socket (glenoid) to form the shoulder joint. It acts like a ball that allows the arm to move in many directions, providing flexibility and range of motion. The humeral head is covered with smooth cartilage, which helps reduce friction during movement. Its stability is maintained by surrounding muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Injuries or degeneration to the humeral head, such as fractures or arthritis, can impair shoulder function and cause pain.
