Human Papillomavirus Vaccine (HPV)

The Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine is a shot that protects against certain types of HPV, a common virus transmitted mainly through sexual activity. Some HPV types can cause health problems like genital warts and, more seriously, various cancers including cervical, throat, and anal cancers. The vaccine works by stimulating your immune system to recognize and fight HPV before you’re exposed to it, making it an effective preventive measure. It is usually recommended for teens and young adults but can be given to others up to age 26 or 45, depending on medical guidance.
