Human olfaction

Human olfaction is the sense of smell, involving sensory receptors in the nasal cavity that detect airborne molecules. When you inhale, these molecules bind to specialized cells called olfactory receptors. These cells send signals to the brain's olfactory bulb, which processes the information and interprets it as specific smells. This sense helps us detect food flavors, environmental hazards, and emotional cues. Olfactory receptors are highly sensitive and capable of distinguishing thousands of different odors, linking smells to memories and emotions through the brain’s limbic system.
