Human Joint Structure
Human joints are where two or more bones meet, allowing for movement and flexibility. They are made up of bones, cartilage (a smooth tissue that cushions bones), ligaments (strong bands of tissue that connect bones), and sometimes bursae (fluid-filled sacs that reduce friction). Joints can be fixed, like in the skull, or highly mobile, like the shoulders and knees. The structure allows for controlled movement, supporting daily activities while maintaining stability. Proper function of joints depends on healthy cartilage, ligaments, and surrounding muscles.
