Human fertilization and embryology
Human fertilization occurs when a sperm cell from a male meets and merges with an egg from a female, typically in the fallopian tube. This process results in a fertilized egg, called a zygote, which begins dividing and developing as it travels toward the uterus. Embryology is the study of this early development, where the zygote forms an embryo, cells differentiate, and tissues and organs start to develop. Over weeks, this tiny embryo grows, eventually forming a fetus, laying the foundation for a new life inside the mother's womb.
