Human Auditory System

The human auditory system enables us to hear and interpret sound. It begins with the outer ear, which collects sound waves and funnels them through the ear canal to the eardrum, causing it to vibrate. These vibrations are transferred through tiny bones in the middle ear to the cochlea in the inner ear, which converts them into electrical signals. These signals are sent via the auditory nerve to the brain, where they are processed to identify the sounds' pitch, volume, and location. This complex system allows us to enjoy music, understand speech, and remain aware of our environment.
