Human adenovirus (HAdV)
Human adenovirus (HAdV) is a group of viruses that can cause a range of illnesses, primarily affecting the respiratory system, eyes, and gastrointestinal tract. These viruses are common and spread through close contact, respiratory droplets, or contaminated surfaces. Symptoms may include cold-like symptoms, sore throat, fever, pneumonia, conjunctivitis (pink eye), or diarrhea, depending on the infection site. Most healthy individuals recover without complications, but HAdV can be more severe in young children, the elderly, or those with weakened immune systems. There are no specific antiviral treatments, but supportive care helps manage symptoms.
