Hulagu Khan
Hulagu Khan was a Mongol ruler and military leader in the 13th century, known for leading the Mongol invasions into the Middle East. He was a grandson of Genghis Khan and played a key role in expanding the Mongol Empire. Hulagu is most famous for conquering much of Persia (modern Iran), destroying the Abbasid Caliphate’s capital, Baghdad, in 1258, which marked a significant shift in Middle Eastern history. His campaigns helped establish Mongol influence across Eurasia, but also resulted in widespread destruction and loss of life. Hulagu’s leadership contributed to the expansion and consolidation of the Mongol Empire in the regions he controlled.
