Hubert Harrison (1883–1929) was a pioneering African American writer, educator, and activist who played a key role in the early 20th-century civil rights movement. Known as the "Father of Harlem Radicalism," he promoted racial equality, black empowerment, and education, advocating for both civil rights and socialist ideas. Harrison challenged racist laws, supported Black self-organization, and encouraged cultural pride.
