HRTF
HRTF, or Head-Related Transfer Function, describes how an individual's ears receive sound from different directions. It reflects how sound waves interact with the head, ears, and torso, altering the sound's timing, pitch, and volume before reaching the eardrum. This unique filtering allows our brains to determine where sounds originate in 3D space, creating a sense of spatial awareness. HRTF is used in audio technology, such as virtual reality, to simulate realistic sound environments by processing audio signals so they appear to come from specific directions around you.
