Houthi Movement
The Houthi movement, also known as Ansar Allah, is a political and armed group based in Yemen, primarily composed of Zaidi Shia Muslims. Originating in the 2000s as a local insurgency, they initially aimed to protect their community’s interests and oppose government corruption. Over time, their movement grew, leading to a complex civil conflict involving regional powers like Saudi Arabia and Iran. The Houthis control significant parts of northern Yemen, including the capital, Sanaa, and their actions have contributed to a prolonged humanitarian crisis in the country.
