House of Romanov
The House of Romanov was the ruling dynasty of Russia from 1613 until the monarchy's abolition in 1917. Founded by Michael Romanov, the family became the central figures of Russian political and social life for over 300 years, leading the empire through expansion, reform, and modernization. The Romanovs included notable rulers like Peter the Great and Catherine the Great. Their reign ended with the Russian Revolution, which led to the establishment of the Soviet Union. The entire family was executed or imprisoned in 1918 by the Bolsheviks, marking the end of centuries of Romanov rule.
