Hounsfield scale

The Hounsfield scale is a way to measure how dense different materials are inside the body using CT scans. It assigns numerical values, called Hounsfield units (HU), to tissues based on their ability to absorb X-rays. For example, air has a very low value (-1000 HU), while dense bones have high values (around +1000 HU). Water is set at 0 HU. This scale helps doctors distinguish between different types of tissues and identify abnormalities, making CT scans a valuable tool for diagnosis and treatment planning.
