Horses and Ponies
Horses and ponies are both members of the equine family, but differ primarily in size. Horses are generally taller than 14.2 hands (58 inches) at the shoulder, while ponies measure 14.2 hands or less. Ponies tend to have stockier builds, thicker manes and tails, and often a calmer temperament. Both are intelligent, social animals used for work, riding, and sport. The main distinctions are size and appearance, but they share many behaviors and care needs. The choice between horse and pony depends on factors like age, purpose, and rider experience.
