Horizontal canal BPPV

Horizontal canal BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo) is a disorder of the inner ear where tiny calcium crystals, called otoconia, become dislodged and move into the horizontal (side-to-side) semicircular canal. This abnormal movement causes brief episodes of dizziness or spinning sensation, often triggered by changes in head position. It disrupts normal balance signals sent from the inner ear to the brain. Treatment typically involves repositioning maneuvers performed by a healthcare professional to move the crystals back to their proper location, relieving symptoms and restoring normal balance function.
