Hookworm

Hookworm is a type of parasitic worm that infects humans by entering the skin, often through contaminated soil or barefoot contact. Once inside, they travel to the intestines, where they attach to the intestinal walls and feed on blood. This can cause symptoms like anemia, fatigue, abdominal pain, and poor nutrient absorption. Hookworm infections are common in areas with inadequate sanitation and can be treated effectively with medications. Preventative measures include wearing shoes, improving sanitation, and avoiding walking barefoot in contaminated areas.
