Honnō-ji Temple

Honnō-ji Temple is a historic Zen Buddhist temple located in Kyoto, Japan. Founded in 1589 by the powerful warlord Oda Nobunaga, it served as both a spiritual center and his residence. The temple is famous for its elegant architecture, serene gardens, and role in Japan’s unification during the late 16th century. In 1582, Nobunaga was betrayed and forced into seppuku (ritual suicide) during a betrayal at Honnō-ji by his retainer, Akechi Mitsuhide. Today, the site is a popular cultural landmark, symbolizing Nobunaga's legacy and Japan’s tumultuous history.
