Hongwu Edicts

The Hongwu Edicts were a series of policies and laws established by the Hongwu Emperor, the founder of China's Ming Dynasty, in the late 14th century. Aimed at restoring order and strengthening the central government after the turmoil of the previous Yuan Dynasty, these edicts outlined officials' responsibilities, emphasized agricultural development, and promoted Confucian values. They sought to limit corruption and improve local governance by emphasizing moral conduct among officials and encouraging land reclamation and farming, ensuring economic stability and loyalty to the emperor. These measures laid the foundation for a stable and prosperous Ming Empire.
