Hong Kong British Administration

The Hong Kong British Administration refers to the period from 1842 to 1997 when Hong Kong was a British colony. During this time, Britain governed Hong Kong under a colonial authority, managing its economy, legal system, and foreign affairs, while local residents maintained some civil rights. The administration developed Hong Kong into a major global financial hub and logistical center. In 1997, sovereignty was transferred back to China, ending British colonial rule and establishing the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region under the principle of "one country, two systems."
