Honey production

Honey production begins when bees collect nectar from flowering plants using their long tongues. Inside their bodies, enzymes break down the nectar’s sugars, starting the transformation into honey. They store this mixture in honey sacs until they return to the hive. Bee workers then deposit the nectar into honeycombs and fan it with their wings to evaporate excess water, thickening it into honey. This stored honey serves as a vital energy source for the colony, especially during winter when nectar is scarce. Beekeepers harvest honey by carefully removing honeycomb frames, extracting the honey, and protecting the hive for ongoing bee activity.
