Homunculi
A homunculus is a visual representation used in neuroscience and psychology to illustrate how different parts of the brain correspond to specific areas of the body. It shows that regions in the brain's motor and sensory cortices are dedicated to controlling and sensing particular body parts, with some areas (like the hands and lips) occupying larger surface areas due to their high sensitivity or dexterity. This mapping helps us understand how the brain manages movement and sensation, emphasizing the brain’s organized and specialized nature in processing our body's inputs and outputs.
