Home Rule Crisis
The Home Rule Crisis was a political conflict in Ireland during the early 1910s, centered on whether Ireland should have self-governance within the United Kingdom. Irish nationalists wanted independence to manage their local affairs, while unionists, mainly in the north, favored remaining part of Britain. The crisis involved intense debates, protests, and political maneuvers, ultimately leading to the Government of Ireland Act in 1914, which granted limited self-rule but was delayed by World War I. This conflict set the stage for future independence movements and shaped Ireland’s political landscape.
