Holy Year
A Holy Year, also called a Jubilee, is a special year in the Catholic Church marked by heightened spiritual activities, pilgrimages, and the granting of indulgences. It typically occurs every 25 years or on special occasions declared by the Pope. During a Holy Year, believers are called to reflect, repent, and seek forgiveness, often visiting significant churches or shrines. The year emphasizes renewal of faith and unity among Catholics worldwide, fostering a sense of spiritual renewal and community. The most recent Holy Year was in 2016, known as the Year of Mercy.
