Holkar War

The Holkar War was a series of conflicts in the early 19th century between the Holkar dynasty, a powerful Maratha family, and the British East India Company. The Holkars aimed to maintain their independence and control over parts of central India, but British interests in consolidating power led to military clashes. The wars resulted in the Holkar rulers losing much of their territory, ultimately bringing much of central India under British influence. These conflicts marked a significant step toward the expansion of British colonial rule in India from regional power to dominance over the subcontinent.
