Hokusai Manga

Hokusai Manga is a collection of Japanese sketchbooks created by the ukiyo-e artist Katsushika Hokusai between 1814 and 1878. Contrary to the name "manga," which means "whimsical pictures," these books are not comics but compilations of detailed and lively illustrations covering a wide range of subjects—people, animals, landscapes, and daily life. They served as both artistic exercises and instructional guides for artists, showcasing Hokusai’s mastery of composition and technique. Hokusai Manga significantly influenced Japanese art and later inspired Western artists, playing a key role in the development of modern manga and illustration.
