Hofman’s law

Hofstadter’s Law states that tasks always take longer to complete than you initially expect, even when you account for this tendency. In other words, underestimating the time needed is a common human bias. For example, if you think a project will take 2 hours, it might actually take 3 hours or more, because people tend to overlook unforeseen complications and the natural tendency to underestimate effort. This principle encourages planning for delays and uncertainties, recognizing that our estimates are often overly optimistic despite our best intentions.
