Hochseeflotte
Hochseeflotte was the main battleship fleet of the Imperial German Navy, active primarily during World War I. It consisted of large, heavily armed warships designed for naval battles on the open ocean. The fleet aimed to challenge Britain's naval dominance, engaging in key confrontations like the Battle of Jutland. Hochseeflotte symbolized Germany's desire to assert itself as a major maritime power. After Germany's defeat in WWI, the fleet was largely scuttled by its own crews to prevent capture and was later dismantled under the terms of the Treaty of Versailles.
