HNO₃

HNO₃, known as nitric acid, is a strong, highly corrosive liquid commonly used in industry and laboratories. It is composed of hydrogen, nitrogen, and oxygen atoms. Nitric acid is used to manufacture fertilizers, explosives, and chemicals. It can easily react with metals and organic materials, often releasing nitrogen dioxide fumes that are brown and toxic. Despite its industrial usefulness, it must be handled with care due to its corrosive nature. In pure form, it appears as a clear, colorless liquid, but it can turn yellowish if impurities or decomposition products are present.
