HMS Vanguard
HMS Vanguard was a British nuclear-powered submarine and the last of the Royal Navy’s Resolution-class vessels, commissioned in 1973. It's designed for strategic deterrence, carrying ballistic missiles capable of delivering nuclear warheads. The submarine is built to operate silently underwater for long periods, enabling it to stay hidden and serve as a secure, retaliatory force in times of conflict. Vanguard played a crucial role in the UK’s nuclear deterrence strategy during the Cold War and was decommissioned in 2022, marking the end of an era in British naval history.
