HMS Mary Rose
The HMS Mary Rose was a 16th-century warship of the English navy, built around 1511. It served during the reign of King Henry VIII and was notable for its size and armament. In 1545, during a naval battle, it unexpectedly sank in the Solent, the strait between England and the Isle of Wight. The ship was remarkably well-preserved underwater, providing valuable insights into naval life and shipbuilding of the era. It was raised from the seabed in 1982 and is now an important historical site and museum, showcasing artifacts, the ship’s structure, and the life of sailors from that period.
