HMAS Tobruk

HMAS Tobruk was an Australian naval vessel, originally a British-built military landing craft launched in 1943. Designed to transport troops and equipment directly onto beaches during amphibious assaults, it played a vital role during World War II and later in various military operations. The ship was named after the Siege of Tobruk, and it was operated by the Royal Australian Navy. After decades of service, it was retired in the early 1980s. Today, the HMAS Tobruk is preserved as a museum ship in Australia, serving as a reminder of the country’s naval history and amphibious warfare capabilities.
