HLA-DRB1
HLA-DRB1 is a gene that encodes a part of the immune system called the Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) class II molecule. These molecules are found on the surface of certain cells and help the immune system recognize and identify foreign substances, like bacteria and viruses. Variations in the HLA-DRB1 gene influence how well the immune system can detect threats and are associated with susceptibility to certain autoimmune diseases, where the immune system mistakenly attacks the body's own tissues. Essentially, HLA-DRB1 plays a key role in immune response regulation and individual disease risk.
