HL Tauri
HL Tauri is a young star located about 450 light-years away in the constellation Taurus. It is surrounded by a protoplanetary disk—a vast, rotating cloud of gas and dust—that is the birthplace of planets. Recent high-resolution images, especially from the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA), reveal multiple concentric rings and gaps within the disk. These features are believed to be caused by forming planets that carve paths as they orbit the star. HL Tauri provides valuable insights into how planetary systems like our own may develop in their early stages.
