HIV Prevention

HIV prevention involves strategies to reduce the risk of human immunodeficiency virus transmission. Key methods include practicing safe sex by using condoms, regularly getting tested for HIV, and ensuring that partners know their HIV status. Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is a medication that can significantly lower the risk for those at high risk. Additionally, people living with HIV can take antiretroviral therapy (ART) to maintain an undetectable viral load, making transmission to partners virtually impossible. Education and awareness about the virus and its transmission are also crucial in preventing its spread.
