history of the Titanic
The RMS Titanic was a British passenger liner launched in 1912, marketed as the largest and most luxurious ship of its time. It symbolized technological innovation but was considered "unsinkable" due to its advanced safety features. On its maiden voyage from England to New York, it struck an iceberg in the North Atlantic, causing it to sink late at night. Over 1,500 of the approximately 2,200 passengers and crew lost their lives. The disaster led to major changes in maritime safety regulations, including improved lifeboat requirements and international communication standards, marking one of the deadliest peacetime maritime accidents in history.
