History of the Temple
The history of the Temple, particularly the Jewish Temples in Jerusalem, reflects their significance as sacred sites for worship and national identity. The First Temple was built by King Solomon around 957 BCE, destroyed by the Babylonians in 586 BCE, and later rebuilt as the Second Temple in 516 BCE. Herod the Great renovated it around 20 BCE. The Second Temple was destroyed by the Romans in 70 CE. Today, the Western Wall remains as a sacred remnant. These temples symbolize spiritual devotion, historical resilience, and changing political dominions through centuries of religious and cultural transformation.
