History of Thailand
Thailand's history dates back thousands of years, originating from early civilizations like the Dvaravati and Khmer empires. It was unified under the Sukhothai Kingdom in the 13th century, which is seen as Thailand’s cultural foundation. The Ayutthaya Kingdom followed, thriving until 1767 when it fell to Burmese invasions. The modern nation emerged in the 19th century, enduring colonial pressures while maintaining independence, notably under King Rama IV and Rama V. The 20th century saw transitions from absolute monarchy to a constitutional system, with periods of military rule. Today, Thailand is a constitutional monarchy with a rich blend of tradition and modern development.
