History of Halloween
Halloween's origins trace back to ancient Celtic festivals, particularly Samhain, which marked the end of the harvest and the start of winter. People believed that during Samhain, the boundary between the living and the dead blurred, allowing spirits to return. To ward off these spirits, they lit bonfires and wore costumes. Over centuries, these traditions blended with Christian practices, leading to All Hallows’ Eve and eventually Halloween. In modern times, Halloween has become a celebration characterized by costumes, trick-or-treating, and festive decorations, rooted in its historical themes of honoring the departed and warding off evil spirits.
