Historically Informed Performance (HIP) is an approach to playing classical music, especially from earlier periods like Baroque and Classical, that aims to recreate how the music might have sounded when originally composed. Musicians research historical instruments, techniques, and performance practices from that time to inform their interpretation. This approach seeks authenticity, respecting the music's original style, tempo, and ornamentation, providing audiences with a richer, more accurate listening experience. HIP combines scholarly research with innovative performance to bring historical music to life as authentically as possible today.
