Historia Brittonum
The Historia Brittonum is a 9th-century Latin historical and legendary account of Britain, traditionally attributed to the monk Nennius. It combines historical records, legends, and folklore to detail Britain’s ancient past, including the peoples who inhabited it, early kings, and notable events. The text is significant because it provides one of the earliest written sources about Britain’s history and medieval legends, such as the legend of King Arthur. Although some parts are historical, others reflect myth and tradition. The Historia Brittonum has influenced the understanding of Britain's early history and its mythic origins.
