Historia Augusta

The Historia Augusta is a collection of biographies of Roman emperors and important figures from the late 2nd to early 3rd centuries AD. Probably written around the late 4th century, it combines historical facts with anecdotes, some of which are exaggerated or unreliable. Its purpose was to provide a summary of imperial history, but scholars often question its accuracy due to inconsistencies and biases. Despite this, it remains a valuable source for understanding Roman political life, personalities, and contemporary perspectives during a turbulent period of Roman history.
