Hippopotamus amphibius

Hippopotamus amphibius, commonly known as the hippopotamus, is a large, semi-aquatic mammal native to Africa. Hippos are notable for their massive bodies, barrel-shaped torsos, large mouths, and tusk-like teeth. They spend much of their time in rivers and lakes, where they stay cool and protected. Despite their hefty appearance, they are agile swimmers and can hold their breath underwater for several minutes. Hippos are herbivores, primarily feeding on grasses at dusk. They are social animals, living in groups called pods, and play a vital role in their ecosystems through their feeding and movement.
