hip joint prosthesis
A hip joint prosthesis is a surgically implanted artificial device used to replace a damaged or diseased hip joint. It typically consists of a metal or ceramic socket that fits into the pelvic bone and a metal or ceramic ball that replaces the top of the thigh bone (femur). The prosthesis restores movement, reduces pain, and improves function when the natural joint has been worn out or injured, often due to arthritis or fractures. Properly implanted, it allows for normal activities and a better quality of life.
