Hindu Undivided Family

A Hindu Undivided Family (HUF) is a legal entity recognized under Indian law, typically comprising a common ancestor and all his descendants, including their wives and children. It functions as a single unit for managing joint family assets, such as property or business. The HUF has a separate legal identity, allowing it to own assets, enter into contracts, and pay taxes independently from its members. It is managed by a designated karta (head), usually the senior-most male, who makes decisions on behalf of the family. This structure provides a way to organize assets and manage family wealth collectively.
