Himalayan black bear

The Himalayan black bear (Ursus thibetanus) is a subspecies of the Asiatic black bear, found in the mountainous regions of the Himalayas. It has a distinctive black coat with a creamy, V-shaped patch on its chest. These bears are excellent climbers, often roping onto trees to find food or escape threats. They are primarily omnivorous, feeding on fruits, nuts, insects, and small mammals. Adapted to cold, high-altitude environments, they play a vital role in their ecosystems by assisting in seed dispersal. Due to habitat loss and poaching, the Himalayan black bear is considered vulnerable.
