Hill-Sachs defect
A Hill-Sachs defect is a common injury that occurs when the upper arm bone (humerus) is dislocated from the shoulder socket (glenoid). During dislocation, part of the rounded surface of the humeral head strikes the rim of the socket, causing a small, indentation or dent in the bone. This defect can make future shoulder dislocations more likely or unstable. Essentially, it's an impact injury that leaves a visible mark on the bone, indicating prior shoulder instability or injury. Proper treatment may be necessary to restore shoulder function and prevent recurring dislocations.
