Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy (HAART) is a treatment approach for HIV that uses a combination of different medications to effectively suppress the virus. This strategy targets various stages of the HIV life cycle, reducing the amount of virus in the body and helping protect the immune system. By doing so, HAART lowers the risk of developing AIDS and related illnesses. It requires strict adherence to the prescribed regimen for optimal effectiveness. While it doesn't cure HIV, HAART greatly improves quality of life and longevity for those infected.
